Where I'll Be and Where I've Been!
I am pleased to once again share my table with a fellow author and member of my Word Weavers writers' group, Susan Lawrence, who also believes that books make the greatest gifts.
I returned to the Windsor Heights Book Fair to share my latest book, Blood Meal, with enthusiastic readers. I was particularly pleased to see people buy both Blood Stained and Blood Meal as a set.
I was very happy to launch Blood Meal at the Iowa Christian Author Fair! There I joined thirteen other authors who also tell their stories from a Christian and family-friendly worldview. My writers' group, the Des Moines chapter of Word Weavers, sponsored this wonderful event.
I returned to the Red Acre Barn on the 5th and 6th of July to give people a chance to get autographed copies of Blood Stained to add to their summer reading. I was pleased to once again share my table with a fellow author and member of my Word Weavers writers' group, Susan Lawrence.
What better place to have a book fair than at a library! I was very impressed with library itself, and this well-run event that attracted a good number of people--authors and readers alike! My illustrator, Kristina Helfert, shared the table with me along with the newest addition to her family, Louis.
I shared my table with Susan Lawrence, another local author, and we were pleasantly surprised at how many people were interested in our books in spite of this event not being author-oriented. I had good sales and great conversations with many people.
Although this book fair was only two hours long, my illustrator, Kristina Helfert, and I met many enthusiastic readers.
Although this popular event was mainly a crafts fair for Christmas shoppers, many people were interested in crafted words! I shared a table with another author under the title "Iowa Authors" and many people purchased books for themselves or as gifts. What greater present is there for an avid reader than a book?
The setting was beautiful and the people a joy to talk with.
The Elwell Family Center at the Iowa State Fairgrounds was a great location to meet wonderful readers and to share my love of writing and encourage other authors.
My illustrator, Kristina Helfert, and I joined a host of authors and enthusiastic readers at the Windsor Heights Book Fair. Check out my guest post at their WHBF Facebook page and at Medium.
I gave a presentation entitled Worldview Windows: Teaching the Classics in Your Homeschool. The conference was well attended and it was exciting to talk to so many homeschooling families about teaching literature and enjoying reading with their children. The conference was hosted by Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Carlisle, Iowa.
